Say it ain’t so – Q2 is here.

I just wanted to share a few industry articles for small business owners working on summer marketing plans and looking for some real world inspiration. Read on for 5 links to stories that remind you to stay true, think big, and connect better:

  • Story: Trends are on their way out, for now at least. / Reminder: Less is more when quality matters (for example, less phone time can equal more sleep, which is good for everyone). For marketing teams, this is a good reminder to re-think sending 5 emails a day or jumping onto every new ad platform. Say more but saying less to minimize consumer marketing fatigue
  • Story: Trader Joe’s doesn’t need retail media / Reminder: Think More Authentically, Not Just Artificially or every-channel-y. Take it from a professional media strategist, you do not have to try everything because everything might not align with your brand. See reminder above.
  • Story: From Small Town to National Champion / Reminder: Better to start small than to not start at all – small budget, small team, small business. Start with what you have & go from there. I’ve worked on campaigns with $0 budget to $100 to $500,000 – sometimes you just have to get creative.
  • Story: It’s past time for brands to bet on Women’s Sports  / Reminder: Diversify Your Portfolio: Audiences, Resources, Opportunities. Feel stuck with your social media pages? Dive into your page audience to see if there are segments you’ve overlooked previously. Running out of ideas? Bring a trusted peer to refill your inspiration or idea jar, or find a social media consultant to help schedule your content. Lean on your local business community to find new opportunities or work together on solutions.
  • Story: Consumer’s want real experiences that can start online / Reminder: Prompt Discovery* with your marketing, don’t just sell. Give your customers and potential customers the opportunity to find your brand and learn about you without it coming from a typical ad. Tell your story and
